– Designing for a sustainable automotive future –
Creating a sustainable automotive future is an essential solution to our growing demand for transport and the impact it is having on our environment. This project covers designing a solar car concept to demonstrate sustainability in automotive design which additionally challenges public perception on alternative energy vehicles. It will be primarily focused on exterior design.
The acceptance criteria of this project is adhering to the 2017 World Solar Challenge Guidelines. The result is a vehicle designed for the 2019 World Solar Challenge that will traverse from Adelaide to Darwin running purely on solar power. This project will only cover the design of the vehicle and will not be investigating the solar collector performance, the electrical streams (instrumentation & telemetry) or the mechanical streams (wheels suspension and brakes).
This project is part of a 2 year long effort by the Australian Technology Network that will have a solar car ready to compete in the 2019 World Solar Challenge.
