The automobile industry is the sixth major contributor to the global warming issue. The world’s leading car companies are working on the solution to prevent a further impact in the future. The project is highly focused on the solar-powered vehicles alternative as these cars can obtain energy source directly from the Sun, making them the most sustainable vehicle today.

Despite being an application in motor racing, these cars have potential to become one of the mainstream transportation for the general public. With the attempt to make this happen, in 2013, the Bridgestone World Solar Challenge announce a new competition class; the Cruiser Class to prototype and showcase the idea of solar technology in commuter vehicles.

The aim for this project is to create a practical and aesthetically appealing solar-powered sedan. This project is a part of a collaboration between RMIT University and the Australian Technology Network of Universities (ATN) solar team to compete in the Cruiser class.

This project was a Finalist in the Victorian Premier’s Design Awards Student category 2018.
