The Synapse project is inspired through the exploration of how digital technology has shifted the way we create, preserve and share memories in the modern age. This project aims to utilise the power of generative design methods to manifest an artistic yet literal representation of memory into physical objects that hold a sentimental memory value. In conjunction with camera tracking technology, this project intends to bridge the digital and physical world in forms of augmented reality. The concept of “assigning memories to objects” in our surroundings is interpreted literally with Synapse, a product service system where people can populate their living space with access to augmented digital memories, creating a meaningful interaction between people and the physical environment. The service aspect of this project further aims to bring people and memories together through a sharing system where users contribute to a collective web of memories.
