This propositional project speculates on what the future of a sustainable food system might be. Taking into consideration severe anthropogenic climate changes, critically threatened ecosystems and mega city living, this project proposes a sustainable diet defined by drought and flood resistance, cleaning the environment of toxins, and foraging food from the urban environment.
The project takes current sustainable food trends and explores what they could be like in ten or twenty years time. It consists of three artefacts: a cookbook of recipes for eating following drought and flood, a service that provides foods that absorb pollutants, and a foraging app for hyper-dense city living.
The role of this project is to provoke thought around what eating sustainably might involve in the face of rapid urban growth and the progress of climate change.
