This project explores the possibilities and new boundaries of algorithmic design and robotic fabrication applicable to the field of industrial design. The main premise of this project is not to design a single object or a repeated object form, it is to develop a customer-oriented co-design web platform. The platform generates furniture through algorithmic design methods and manufactured through robotic fabrication processes.
Each design is generated through an algorithm based on the user input and randomisation, in turn giving every object a uniform material appearance with a distinctive one-off silhouette form. The algorithmically generated design is then fabricated by a series of robotic processes, foam cutting and carbon fibre weaving, that produce a unique appearance with an intricate pattern.
