LivWell

Cancer affects a person physically, practically, mentally and socially. However, health systems and professionals often overlook the non-medical aspects of cancer. It’s not just about treating cancer; it’s about treating the whole person – body, mind and spirit. It’s about helping people with cancer have a better quality of life – to thrive. LivWell helps people with cancer to thrive by providing the practical, emotional and social support cancer patients, families and carers need. The app was created through co-designing with cancer patients, families, carers and staff at the Olivia Newton-John Cancer & Wellness Centre (ONJ Centre). LivWell allows people with cancer, their families and friends to access wellness and support information, including the wellness and support programs throughout the ONJ Centre, online wellness sessions and exercises as well as active goal setting to support self-management. By providing access to wellness and support information, it encourages cancer patients to engage in decision making, be aware of their condition and care, motivate them to adopt healthy behaviours and help them know when and how to seek help from professionals. LivWell is part of a movement in the ONJ Centre called LIV ON, which means to have hope, to thrive and to remember.
