Litdyssey: The First Adventure
Dyslexia is a complex issue that hinders people from realising their full potential. By supplying a game that can support dyslexics in learning this project aims to assist in the development of literacy skills.
Crossing fun and learning will help to increase engagement in frustrating activity such as spelling and reading for dyslexics. By using game design principles, this project aims to foster positive learning habits and attitudes dealing with adversity, for the users. Also, this project aims to boost the self-esteem of people who find it difficult to spell and read, with constant encouragement through gameplay systems. The target audience for this is project is 12-16-year-old dyslexics who are underserved in this market. Schools stop teaching basic literacy skills at a certain point meaning dyslexics are often left behind, this project aims to fill that gap. Further research will be conducted with user testing with appropriate users and assessing the gathered feedback. Expert opinions will also help guide this project and validate the finding within this report. Further research into the game will be conducted through the method of playing them and recording findings that could be applied to this project.
Litdyssey is designed with the purpose of teaching dyslexics people and will keep this as its focus through its development.
