Through the creation of murals, urban spaces develop socially, culturally and economically, improving perceptions of the environments they are found in. However, mural creation is a difficult and lengthy task, that can turn the wider community away from becoming involved.

By utilising current DIY robotic technology, Commural is a handheld digital device that strives to make the mural creation process more approachable for amateurs, and more efficient for professionals.

Commural functions by assisting artists, both experienced and inexperienced, in the scaling and transferal of their design’s outlines, from the sketchbook to the wall. It does this by drawing reference dots, that the artist then connects to reproduce their lines, and next paint over to complete their artwork.

Murals bring spaces to life: They represent the culture of a community. Through technology, Commural can help more people enjoy the benefits of mural creation.
