The world has entered the age of the aged owing to two major demographic facts – declining fertility and increasing longevity. The ageing population is unprecedented and the proportion of the aged will soon reach its peak in human history. As the ‘baby boomer’ generation is slowly turning to retirement, more people choose to live alone and hence reinforce the evolvement of social isolation.
My project intends to alleviate the phenomenon of social isolation in the region of Victoria and to develop a socially sustainable and inclusive community.
A problem of overloading information is discovered in a field observation. This could be an obstacle for older people to access information from the community. With the view of bringing older people back to the society, an interactive system is created. It is about reconstructing the current communication system with the integration of smart technology.
Bee’s Knees aims to transform the scattered information into an organised and neat presentation, as well as more accessible.
