This project engages in research methods and techniques to produce concept art in aid of the design of a vehicle for a film franchise
Through extensive research in literature, an understanding of the general
practice of production design was gained in order to establish its context in the film industry and the overall role of a production designer.
Case studies of production designers in film assisted in growing an
understanding of the relationship between the vehicles in film and the
world they inhabit. These case studies included examples from 2015’s Mad Max: Fury Road (Directed by George Miller), 2016’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (Directed by Zac Snyder) and 1977’s Star Wars (Directed by George Lucas).
Research surrounding the processes of the production designers of the
previously mentioned films informed the methods and development of this project to shape the design and final model produced.
This vehicle was produced through a combination of visual development, 3DCAD refinement, and iterative prototyping processes.
