Aperture: Multi-sensory Therapy Tool
Aperture is a Multi-sensory stimulation tool, leveraging the emerging virtual reality medium to support and aid the implementation of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for suffers from Severe Anxiety Disorders. Aperture applies the methods and concepts of Multi-sensory therapy, within a series of Virtual Experiences, creating comfortable, safe and relaxing environments for patients.
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is itself an effective method of reducing a range anxiety disorders through developing skills to cope and strengthen against issues. The techniques are worked through with a therapist, building anxiety reduction using breathing control, cognitive skills through identification of core thoughts, and behavioural through problem listing in hierarchy, exposure and response evaluation.
In doing so within a safe and comfortable environment, patients can learn, practice and develop their CBT techniques. Through developing said environment as a digital one via Virtual Reality, patient accessibility is improved, the therapy can have reduced attrition and a more controlled intervention can occur.
