This research aims to enrich human-object relationships through the exploration of experiential interactions facilitated by an affective object. It proposes and investigates the concept of ‘Affective Artefacts’, which is defined as objects that are intentionally designed to elicit an affective experience and add value into people’s lives.

With a passion for the way in which light responds through an interactive artefact and the possibility of improving our experiences in living spaces, this project intends to design and develop an interactive light object. This lighting object will be intended for private spaces and will therefore explore how the qualities of light and affective interactions can enrich our overall relationship with an object. The artefact itself delves into the field of interaction design, however, it explores a more experiential approach rather than design efficiency to elicit a positive value-adding experience.
